Celia’s ill

Filed under: Spinoza — timothy @ 12:49 pm

It’s been a sleepy few days here. Celia’s been very ill with a fever and a severe cough. So the whole family has been around and I wasn’t ever quite sure where to be. Though I did try to make sure someone was looking after her.

If it wasn’t Timothy, I’d stay snuggled up with her, but most nights both Timothy and I were looking after poor Celia…

However she seems much better today, though I shall keep a close eye on her in any case.

Update to the Hilge-m/n-berg story

Filed under: Hilgenbergs — timothy @ 12:45 pm

You may have seen Alessandra’s story on 16 December… she’s done a little more research and it turns out that her great grandfather had moved to Brazil from the Volga area of Russia - a well know area of German settlers. They reached Brazil in 1877, first staying in Paranagund subsequently moving to Ponta Grossa, ParanHis name was David Hermman Hilgenberg and he was married in Brazil to Luiza Schneider, also from the Volga region.

Alessandra would like to know if is possible to check whether he and her great grandmother were baptiesed in a Lutheran church.

Long time…

Filed under: Spinoza — timothy @ 8:05 am

Well it’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything, but times been against me recently. Also I’ve had a few run-ins with our neighbours. Although they are only staying temporarily - I understand - they are taking over the area in a big way.

Of course I try to stand up for my rights, it has on occasion ended in fistycuffs and I’m not sure who ended worse off… I know I’ve been boffed and left with a number of scratches.

As it is getting cold now I’m not out as much as I was, I much prefer being warm and snug, having the odd kip, too.

Dennis Frederick Hilgenberg tells us

Filed under: Hilgenbergs — timothy @ 7:59 am

His Grandfather was Frederick Hilgenberg born 1910 in Syracuse, N.Y. He had brothers Hank, William, George and two sisters. His Great grandfather’s name was Carl (or Karl) who died in Syracuse, N.Y. in or about 1911 at the age of 34. Because his Great grandfather died when his Grandfather was only one year old, his family tree branch stops there. He’d appreciate if anyone had further information.

A Hilge-m/n-berg writes

Filed under: Hilgenbergs — timothy @ 8:33 am

Alessandra writes her mother is of German descendent. She is from Brazil and is trying to find out more about her origin. Her mother’s name is Zoila Hilgenberg (in her register Hilgenberg is written with ‘m’ Hilgemberg but they think it may be a mistake because the others relatives are Hilgenberg).

Her grandgrandfather came to Brazil to run away from the first World War, his name was David Hilgemberg. He came with his sister who infortunately died during the travel.

They know that the people who ran away that time had three destination: Some came to Brazil (southern) others to Argentina and yet others to USA. She’d like very much to know more about her family’s origin.
