Jerry&football
A mail from Jerry, tells us that their son, Jay, played professional football for 13 years, mainly for the Chicagoe Bears. Their other son, Joel, played for some 10 years with the New Orleans Saints. Both were pro-bowl centres during their careers. Wally was their uncle and played for the Minniapolis Vikings. Jerry himself was an All-American centre at the University of Iowa during the early 1950s and their older brother Jim was captain and centre on 1976.
Jerry is decended from William Heinrich Hilgenberg, born 11 April, 1853 in Werkel (spelling?), Hessen, Germany. William was married to Emma Hachmeister, born 21 May, 1876 in Illinois.
