Kristi Molli got in touch. She’s looking for information about Edward A. V. Hilgenberg. Unfortunately she doesn’t know his date of birth but his date of death was between 1841-1847.He married Barbara Gates on 05/04/1841 in Belmont County, Ohio. They had a daughter Minerva Hilgenberg born in 1842. In Ohio census’ Minerva states her father is from Germany. Kristi reports that Edward he had a brother in Ohio but she cannot locate any further information on this branch of the family.
Below a picture of him in his uniform:
I’m sad to report that Sunday morning, 4 November, Gene Marie Hilgenberg passed away peacefully in her sleep, just a week before her 71st birthday. Her favourite aphorism was: The flies are wise, when the winter comes they dies - while it is sad she has gone, we should be happy that we had the opportunity to know her.
Jay wishes to remember his aunt Romona (Jarman) who died of breast cancer in 1997, she leaft behind daughters Sandy, Betty, Debbie, Tracy, sons John Jr. and Robby.
His uncle Bernard died around 1989, leaving daughter Patricia, and son Bernie behind.
And his dad Joseph who died August 13, 1991 and his Mother Mary Frances who passed away January 15, 2003.
Linda Norton reports Steven Martin Hilgenberg of Edgewater Md died at the age of 48 in a traffic accident on 14 April 2006. He was father of two boys and another due next month. He was the son of Adolph Hilgenberg, grandson of William C. Hilgenberg and Anna Hilgenberg.
I’ve found an email from Oct 2005 in my outlook from Linda Norton. I can only apologise for the lateness of posting. She writes:
Marie is the second cousin to my father, Leonard Hilgenberg. who was the son of William Charles Hilgenberg who came to the US in the early 1900 and sponsored Marie’s father. William Charles Hilgenberg, from Germany, married Anna Steisel from Austria and they had 9 children, Adolf, William, Eddy, Albert, John, Leonard, Margaret, Louise and Anna. They all settled in the DC area and later moved to Maryland. All but 4 are deceased the oldest is Margaret (Hilgenberg) Musgrove at 94.
I had an email from David T. Hillgenberg who found this site and wondered if anyone could help with some history. It is very difficult to find any information his on family because his Grandfather Carl Gunther Hillgenberg jump ship to come to the U.S.
